Healthy Gingerbread Fudge: A Delicious Treat in Aurora and Beyond

A decadent treat that combines the richness of chocolate with warm, spiced ginger—this easy fudge recipe from Delicious and Doable by Charmaine Broughton, is perfect for anyone looking for a delicious yet wholesome dessert!
Chocolate Layer:
- 10 oz. (300 g) bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped
- 1 (300 mL) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp (5 mL) pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Directions:
- Line an 8 X 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper on the bottom and up the sides.
- Melt chocolate and condensed milk using a double boiler.
- Stir in vanilla and salt.
- Spread the chocolate mixture into the pan (it will be thick—remember, it's fudge!). Smooth with the back of a spoon.
- Chill for at least 2 hours.
Gingerbread Layer:
- 12 oz. (360 g) white chocolate, roughly chopped
- 1 (300 mL) can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) molasses
- 2 tsp (10 mL) ground ginger
- 1 tsp (5 mL) ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp (1 mL) each of ground cloves and allspice
- Hefty pinch of ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp (2 mL) pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Directions:
- Melt white chocolate, condensed milk, and molasses in a double boiler.
- Stir in spices, vanilla, and salt.
- Spread over the chilled chocolate layer and smooth the top.
- Garnish with decorative sprinkles or edible glitter if desired.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving. Slice into squares and enjoy!
Tip: For an extra hit of ginger, stir in ⅓ cup (75 mL) finely diced candied ginger to the top layer before chilling.
