How to Build a Sustainable Capsule Wardrobe (That Works All Year Long)

If you’ve ever stood in front of your closet wondering what to wear, a capsule wardrobe might just be your new best friend.

A while back, we teamed up with Candice from The Eco Hub to create a cozy fall capsule — and even though the pieces have changed since then, the heart of that blog is still totally relevant today. It’s all about choosing fewer, better pieces you love to wear on repeat. That’s why we’ve updated the post to help you build your own sustainable capsule wardrobe any time of year.

Whether it’s spring, fall, or somewhere in between, I’ll walk you through the essentials I always reach for — and how to mix and match them into outfits that feel like you.

Start with These Capsule Staples:

These are the building blocks of your wardrobe. The goal? Fewer pieces, more outfits, and less stress getting dressed — so feel free to explore and pick what feels like you.

  • A great-fitting pair of jeans — A pair of great fitting jeans is a must for your capsule wardrobe. It is very versatile and can be matched up with may pieces in your wardrobe.
  • A classic blazer or Cardigan — A blazer/cardigan can pull an outfit together. You can dress it up or wear it casually. Great to wear over tees, dresses, or even joggers.
  • Statement dress — The kind you can wear with sneakers or heels. Bonus points if it's super comfy.
  • Layering top — Think tank, tee, or long sleeve, depending on the season.
  • Pair of pants — Joggers or wide-legs that can go casual or elevated.
  • Jacket — A denim, trench, or utility jacket works all year. Pick one that feels like "you."
  • An everyday bag — Bonus if it’s hands-free like a belt bag or crossbody.
  • Something you love — A cozy knit, a pop of colour, something that makes you smile, or something from our Sustainable Collection.

Mix & Match Outfit Ideas

Here’s a little inspiration for how I style these pieces together:

  1. Blazer + jeans + white tee + belt bag — So easy, and you look instantly polished.
  2. Dress + denim jacket + sneakers — A go-to for weekend coffee runs.
  3. Wide-leg pants + knit top + layered necklaces — Dressy enough for dinner, cozy enough for errands.
  4. Joggers + blazer + tank top — Comfy but elevated — yes, please.
  5. Statement dress + blazer + heels — Date night ready in minutes.

Quick Tip: These basics work year-round — just swap out your fabrics! Think linen or cotton for spring and summer, and cozy knits or denim for cooler months. Layers are your best friend.
